NaNoWriMo
I’ve decided to participate in National Novel Writing Month with a few friends. As such, I will be taking a break from working on The Light in Death.
I believe I already have a good premise and title for the novel I intend to write for it.
The Life of a Subscription Child takes place in the future where the birthrate has plummeted to zero. Babies are created in a lab using genetic material from parents or donors. Before deciding whether to have children, instead of having children, or as a potential stipulation for a child permit, parents subscribe to a child.
The subscription service provides an android designed to function identically to a real child. However, androids are part human, part machine, so technically they are the real thing. As such, the subscription children grow and develop as any person would. The novel will be a memoir of Clara, one of the subscription children and the experiences she encounters from her first memory into adulthood.
